Mike Rymer, PT, OCS, Clinic Director

Mike has been practicing orthopedic physical therapy since graduating from Cal State Long Beach in 1990. He has worked in both private practice sports medicine and as the director of the prestigious Wiltse Spine Institute. He earned his Board Certification in Orthopedics in 1998. Mike is also a Certified Ergonomic Specialist, and has his Medical Level 2 from the Titleist Performance Institute. Mike has been the clinical director of our Long Beach facility since it opened in 1999. Mike has a long history of working with local high school athletes, and was the sports medicine program director responsible for implementation and development of the training program and ongoing care for the Long Beach Breakers minor league baseball club. He has also worked with the Long Beach Ice Dogs. The emphasis of his practice is on manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and hands-on treatment. Mike is a big sports fan, and in his spare time also enjoys golf, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two children.

Heather Lien, PT, MPT

Heather Lien is originally from Lancaster, California. She obtained her Masters in Physical Therapy from California State University, Long Beach. Heather has been working in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy since 2006. She is a certified clinical instructor. Having 11 years experience, she has treated a wide variety of orthopedic conditions. In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.

Venessa D. Vigil, OTR/L, CHT

Venessa has been practicing Occupational Hand Therapy for 28 years and is a graduate from Loma Linda University with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health. Venessa is bilingual in English and Spanish. Venessa is a Certified Hand Therapist. She works with all types of hand injuries, including expertise in tendon repair and splinting. She is also a Certified Pilates Instructor. Venessa enjoys anything water/beach related. She owns her own paddleboard business and is currently fascinated with Equine Occupational Therapy. She enjoys paddle boarding, surfing, and beach volleyball.

Silverton Nguyen, PT, MPT, OCS, CCI

Silverton has been practicing physical therapy since 2011. He graduated from University of California, San Diego as a Regent’s Scholar with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and a minor in Psychology. He then went on to earn his Master’s in Physical Therapy from California State University, Long Beach in 2011. He continued to hone his skills by becoming an Orthopedic Certified Specialist and is currently working on his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. As an advocate of lifetime learning, he trained to become a Certified Clinical Instructor to better teach physical therapy students and has worked as adjunct faculty for the orthopedics program at CSU Long Beach. He is also an active member of the California Physical Therapy Association. He has worked in diverse settings including hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient centers, and sporting events. He has a passion for rehabilitating patients from all backgrounds, believing that everyone can lead stronger and healthier lives. Silverton enjoys travel, cooking, camping, and DIY home improvements with his wife.

Dorothy King, PT

Dorothy was raised in Southern California and got her degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 1980. She has been working as an outpatient therapist for 30 years. Dorothy has a long history of working with orthopedic patients, and emphasizes a hands-on approach to her treatment. In her free time, she likes to hike and travel internationally with her family.

Orland Garcia, OTR/L

Orland has been practicing occupational therapy for the past three years in the outpatient upper extremity and hand rehabilitation setting; working at both the Anaheim and Long Beach California Hand Therapy locations. He graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a Master of Science Degree in occupational therapy in 2014. Orland is a certified provider of Astym treatment utilized for various soft tissue diagnoses and has obtained additional training in upper extremity neural mobilizations. Currently, he is in the process of obtaining his advanced practice license in the upper extremity and hand therapy setting. During his leisure time, Orland enjoys exploring the outdoors, playing basketball and is an avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Tami Martin, BS, PTA

Tami has worked at Cal Rehab Sports Medicine, Long Beach since it first opened in 1999. She graduated from UCLA with a double major in Kinesiology and Psychology. She continued her education and obtained her state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Her time is split between working in the clinic and as an instructor for a PT aide certification program. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, cycling, traveling and spending time with her 2 children.
